A heart void of offense

A heart void of offense

A heart void of offense 1024 576 Bethel Campus Fellowship

Acts 24: 16-. And in this do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense toward God, and toward men

David, an old testament king did not show a good marriage example and suffered the impact while on earth. If you have not married, pray that you do not follow David’s marriage example as it did not turn well for him. Though he made very many bad choices in marriage, He is one man in the Bible described as a man after Gods heart, who will do everything God wants him to do. David was a man that committed many atrocities in his lifetime. However, at each stage when confronted, convicted he did everything God expected Him to do. His blameless life is revealed in Psalms 51 where he showed what it means to confess, and repent from sin. He demonstrated it in Psalm 3 which revealed his frustrations about betrayal and insult from his rebellious son, Absalom and his resolve to rest in God’s salvation and trust in His vengeance. What of Psalm 57 where David shared how he trusted God while he ran and hid from Saul’s jealousy, envy and multiple attempts to terminate his life and destiny. Even when David had the opportunity to destroy Saul He refused. “Far be it from me because of the Lord that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord’s anointed …” (1 Sam. 24:6).  David in 2Sam 9:1 sought to bless the household of Saul who spent many years seeking to kill him

David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

Has anyone offended you? Are you wounded by God’s people? Learn to exercise yourself, to have a conscience void of offense by understanding that your battle is not against flesh and blood. Satan incites godly people to do his bidding (1 Chronicle 21:1, Satan entered Judas Iscariot (Luke 22:3) and even Satan spoke through Peter (Math 16:23) Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

So when we recognize whom our real enemy is, we will exercise ourselves in prayer and in agape love to always have a conscience void of offense towards Gods people.

Prayer

Father, you said in your word that offense will surely come. Help me to have the heart of David that I will be ready to do everything you Holy Spirit wanted to do in order to have a heart void of offence towards you and others . In Jesus name I pray.
