1 Thessalonians 5:22: ‘Abstain from all appearances of evil.’ (KJV)
1 Thessalonians 5:22: ‘Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it].’ (AMP)
One of the most important principles in the life of a believer is the necessity to abstain from every kind of evil, even the appearance of it.
If you want to maintain a good testimony of Jesus, you must refrain from any action, language, or situation that has even the appearance of evil. This is not a suggestion – it is a commandment from God found in 1 Thessalonians 5:22 for your sanctification.
Even the tiniest appearance of evil can trigger fleshly lusts that war against your soul and can bring you to a place of sin.
Kindly meditate on the following scripture as you make a determination to continue to keep yourself pure.
1 Peter 2:11: Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, (NKJV)
May the God of peace sanctify you wholly, body, soul and spirit in Jesus name. Amen.
1 John 5:18: We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. (KJV)
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank You for the revelation about the impact appearances of evil can have on my walk with you. Please give me the grace to keep myself pure and always live a life that glorifies you in secret and in the open. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
