Luke 1:13: But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John
Luke 1:18: Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.”
Have you asked God for something but due to the length of time or the circumstances you have doubt?
Zechariah was a man of God who asked God for something. In Luke 1:13 an angel of God told Zechariah that his prayers had been answered. But in verse 18, it’s clear that Zechariah had some doubt about the fulfillment of this request due to the time that had passed.
Many times we ask God for something that is dear to our hearts, but deep down there is doubt.
We have to be careful when we say “your will be done Lord” that we are sincere and not saying it from a point of false humility, religiousness, or doubt. The will of God in our lives is a desire for each Christian, but we also have to understand that trust is part of that big picture. We can easily get in the habit of saying yes with a blemished heart.
Don’t just say something because it sounds good as you encounter God. Sincerely allow God to search your heart to ensure your conversation with God is genuine on every level. When we are honest with God about our shortcomings, we open the door for God to deliver us.
PRAYER: Lord, I have many desires and I want your will to be done with all of them. Please help me to trust you with all of my heart in all things in Jesus name. Amen.
