2 Corinthians 5:20 NKJV – ‘Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.’
An ambassador is a diplomatic agent assigned to a foreign country to be the resident representative for his or her own home country according to Merriam-Webster. If we — children of God — are ambassadors of Christ, that means we have been given a special assignment to represent Christ here on Earth.
Are you an effective ambassador of Christ?
This is not a question to be answered with laxity. We must ask the Lord to search our hearts and reveal those things that are not of Him (Psalm 139:23-24). As God reveals the true answer to this question, we might feel convicted; however, be encouraged by the fact that conviction comes from the Spirit of the Lord. Conviction helps us to identify our mistakes and it presents an opportunity for repentance and spiritual growth which is an amazing thing (Acts 3:19)! Taking advantage of this opportunity will help you to become an effective ambassador through whom God can plead for His children to be reconciled to Him. It is not just your life at stake, but the lives of many others who desperately need to know Jesus Christ.
PRAYER: Father Lord, search my heart and expose any wicked way in me. Reveal the areas in which I am not walking according to Your Spirit. [Take a moment to listen to what God says] I repent of these wicked ways Lord. Forgive me and show me the way of the righteous. Pour out your Spirit upon me that I may walk in love, peace, faithfulness, patience, joy, gentleness, self-control, kindness, and goodness. Help me to represent You accurately so that those lost souls may hear You pleading through me and be reconciled to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
