James 4:4-5 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

Worldliness simply means being of the world (displayed in our mind and actions) and is characterized by:

– Looking like the world

– Acting like the world

– Friendship with the world (i.e., customs, beliefs, patterns of living)

– Setting your desires on earthly things

The bible warns severely about the dangers of being like the world instead of being heavenly minded. (1 John 2:15-17)

Jesus Christ has provided a way out for you from worldliness. He died so you can be delivered from this evil world (Galatians 1:4). He prayed for you to be truly sanctified (set apart unto Him) and delivered from the manipulations and temptations from the evil one (Satan) while He was on earth and is still praying for you now He is in heaven. He has also provided abundant instructions in His word for you to live a life that is holy and pleasing to Him so that you can one day spend eternity with Him in heaven.

Continue to believe in Him daily and choose to set yourself apart for Him daily by removing what you know leads you to your sin and every attachment that makes you look, act, and think like the world. Cut off from everyone who leads you to sin and avoid worldly attitudes. Wash your hands from bad habits and ask God to purify your heart. Separate yourself from wrong friends, bad company, and remove entertainment that is not honoring God.

Depend on Him daily in prayer, meditating on God’s word (the Bible) and associate with genuine believers who live holy lives and separate themselves from all forms of worldliness.

2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (NKJV) – Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord.Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters,Says the Lord Almighty.

Jesus Christ, your Savior has done His part; will you do your part? Remember, one day, you will give account of all that you have done in this body. Honor the sacrifice Christ has made for you to live a new life.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for reminding me that you died on the cross to deliver me from this evil world and it’s lusts. Help me to truly separate myself from the customs of this world to be truly set apart for you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
