Psalm 16:3: As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”
It is a great privilege to be a member of the body of Christ.
Apostle Paul prayed in Ephesians 3:17-19: that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (NKJV)
When we fellowship with other believers, we begin to comprehend God’s love and the great inheritance we have in Christ (Ephesians 3:17-19). We learn and know the truth that keeps us grounded and away from error. We receive pruning and sanctification that occurs only in the context of fellowship (Ephesians 4:11-15; 1 John 1:7).
True community founded on Christ gives direction and purpose to your life, helping you to understand your purpose and grow in your spiritual gifts and calling (Acts 13:1-4). In community, there is warning about the dangers of sin and consistent reminders about preparing for heaven (Hebrews 3:12-14). We share one another burdens and help encourage the weak among us.
What other benefits can you remember about being a member of the body of Christ? Godly mentors? Friendships?
Take time today to reflect and thank God for the family of faith.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the privilege to be a member of your body. Please give me the grace to continue steadfastly in fellowship and love with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Help me to enjoy all the benefits you have for me in this wonderful community in Jesus name. Amen.
