CASTING DOWN LIES

CASTING DOWN LIES

CASTING DOWN LIES 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (NIV)

2nd Corinthians 10:3-5 – For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (NIV)

The voices that speak lies and doubt and negativity to us as believers cannot be defeated by our willpower. They are in need of something stronger: God’s word. This is because our authority is dependent on God’s power and not our own.

When Jesus was in the wilderness, He used the word of the Lord to resist the enemy. (Matthew 4:1-11)

It is important to go to fellow believers for encouragement but it is much more important to meditate on God’s word. If you are struggling with discouragement, are you meditating on the verses that say what God says about you? Yes, it is important to listen to practical encouragement from others, but do not forget real change happens through God’s word.

What lies are you struggling with?

Pray to God to guide you to the verses He wants you to use to fight them off. Write them down and let the first words that come out of your mouth in the morning and the last words you speak at night be God’s truth and not your own.

PRAYER: God, thank you that your word is so powerful. Thank you that you haven’t left me in this world defenseless. Please, give me a hunger for your word that goes beyond feeling and remind me to use this weapon and not my hands. Your word is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword and so in that I rejoice. I am well equipped for any battle and so excited about how my life will shift as I use the weapon of your word. In Jesus name, amen.
