Isaiah 64: 1 NLT – ‘Oh, that you would burst from the heavens and come down! How the mountains would quake in your presence!’
There were seasons and situations in biblical times filled with so much moral decadence that it called for God to literally showcase his presence through judgment. The nonchalant, casual attitude of the religious sect of the time and the compromising tendencies of the prophets, judges, kings, and Priests are just a couple of examples.
When I reflect on the prophet’s outcry in Isaiah 64:1, I imagine a man of God desperate to see the real manifestation of God’s presence and power!
I believe that God in His sovereignty is still pleased to answer this prayer. I believe that He is willing to rend the heavens and come down to our colleges and universities. As a college student in a secular university, I experienced an answer to this prayer when God took the business of college campus revival personally. Our college campus bible studies, dorms and lecture rooms became conduits for the mighty quickening work of the Holy Spirit; a movement of students and staff filled with the Holy Spirit and Christ’s love. They were willing to sacrifice for His work, proclaim the gospel and minister the Holy Spirit in every event on campus.
Campus life is filled with an openly sinful lifestyle that has almost become the norm of campus culture. Our church communities are in need of the Lord rending the heavens and coming down to drive away all the buyers and sellers of other gospels. In our personal lives, there may be prayerlessness, complacency, laziness, worldliness; selfishness, not loving one another, lack of passion for evangelizing, witnessing and soul-winning; pride, jealousy, lying, and manipulation.
Can you sincerely join me and call on the Lord to come down and do the work of revival in us? Can we see his mighty works of mountain shaking miracles wrought through us and allow Him the glory due to Him alone? God is ready to respond to this passionate plea.
PRAYER: Lord rend the heavens and come down!!!. Let the world around us know that you are God. Showcase your awesome power to the heartless and doubting. That people will know that you are God that reigns and rules in the affair of people. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
