DELIVERANCE FROM THE PIT

DELIVERANCE FROM THE PIT

DELIVERANCE FROM THE PIT 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

Psalm 40:1-3: I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. (NIV)

As children of God in Christ Jesus, the word of God encourages us to watch and pray; to be sober and vigilant (Matthew 26:41, 1 Peter 5:8). These instructions are critical because we are in an active spiritual warfare.

You and I were delivered from the power of darkness and brought into the light of God’s kingdom. After coming into light, God has also called us to be co-laborers with Him in snatching men from darkness, sin and bondage.

Satan, our adversary, is not pleased with our freedom and our mandate and so he is in constant warfare against us. He seeks to steal our joy in Christ, kill our conscience and faith in God, and destroy our lives.  Sometimes, while resisting his craftiness, we find ourselves in difficult situations that seem impossible to overcome.

God in His mercy sees ahead and has provided a way out for us, no matter what the issue is. Whenever you find yourself in a difficult place, wait patiently on the Lord and cry out for mercy. He is faithful and will surely bring you out.

The children of Israel cried out when they were in bondage in Egypt, God heard their cry and sent a deliverer Moses (Exodus 3:7-10). In Psalm 107:20, God sent His word to deliver people from their destruction. In Zechariah 9:11, God delivered prisoners by the reason of the blood of the covenant.

Jesus Christ, the Lord is our Deliverer. He is the Word of God and He shed His blood of the new covenant to deliver us from all our afflictions.

Are you going through any difficult situation today? Cry out to God and patiently wait on Him, no matter how long it takes. Jesus will surely deliver you, set your feet on a rock and put a new song in your mouth.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for your word to me today. I acknowledge that you are my Deliverer. Hear my cry, deliver me from every slimy pit and restore me to your perfect plan for me in Jesus name. Amen.
