“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV)
The past few years brought a lot of hardship into the lives of many people all over the world including believers. Even beyond these past few years, some feel like their lives have been characterized by constant trials and tribulations that just never seem to end.
When one issue is solved, it seems like there is always another issue ready to rise up and take its place. Or maybe there is just one issue that you’ve been praying and fasting about for ages but still, you don’t see the outcome that you long for.
You may feel tired of praying, fasting, believing, seeking counsel and doing all the right things. Honestly, it makes sense to feel that way. After all, it’s difficult to go against what you’re currently experiencing and believe in God for something that seems impossible.
However, the amazing thing is that we serve a God who specializes in doing impossible things. He wants us to continue in prayer to Him about our issues. He does not get tired of hearing from us nor does ever stop listening. He actually tells those that are tired and weary to come to Him who will give us rest for our souls (Matthew 11:28-30) and cast our cares on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:6-7).
You may be thinking “Okay well, I’ve been doing that but…” to that let’s take a look at the parable of the wicked judge in Luke 18:1-8 (take time to study this scripture).
Being a widow in those days often meant being impoverished and lacking security which tells us that this woman was already in a very vulnerable state. She goes to this judge in pursuit of justice from her adversary.
The judge ended up satisfying her request, not because cared about her or feared God, but simply because she kept asking. How much more our own God who actually does care about us and is the most righteous Judge?
Surely, God hears your cries and will respond in due time. This parable tells us that there is power in persistence. You may not see the result of your fervent prayers immediately or even after years but keep on praying and believing that you will see God’s response come to pass.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for your word today. Open my eyes to see You and You alone as my source of rest and answered prayers. Help me to cast all my cares upon you in full assurance that you care for me. Please give me the grace to be strong in prayer, seeking you and never giving up in Jesus name. Amen.
