From one student to another, school is tiring. No matter how much you like your major or how good your program is, there are bound to be days when you feel like throwing in the towel. To that, the word of God says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” – Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
Even in the moments when remaining encouraged and pressing on seems impossible — because you’re tired of shedding tears over failed exams and merciless professors — the Word of God is here to remind you that “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.” – Psalm 126:5 (NKJV)
This is a biblical truth that you can find solace in. No matter how impossible things may seem, your labor will not be in vain. This truth is reaffirmed in Proverbs and Isaiah: “The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.” – Proverbs 13:4 (NKJV) and “But I said, ‘I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing at all. Yet what is due me is in the LORD’s hand, and my reward is with my God.’” – Isaiah 49:4 (NIV)
Therefore, be encouraged. Just as the Lord has placed you in school (or wherever He has placed you in this season) He will make His grace sufficient to help you (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). Through this difficult season, the Lord can grow your faith, character, and wisdom. He can give you a testimony that will encourage others undergoing similar circumstances. Just remember as you pursue your education and God’s plan for your life, you are doing so to His glory. Seek Him first and He will be sure to meet all your other needs!
Jesus is the pioneer of our faith so try reading Mark 4: 35-41! Stress and anxiety does not have to be your portion in the middle of the storm. Check out Jesus’ attitude in a literal storm. He grabbed a cushion and….you’ll have to read the rest for yourself!
PRAYER: Take this time to be candid with God about where you are academically. Be vulnerable because He cares about you and wants to help. Bind and cast out every spirit of fear, anxiety, worry and idolatry. Lastly, pray for strength, wisdom, knowledge, peace and understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
