Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Imagine having a friend come over. You’ve met this person and you guys have a connection. You think that you guys are going to be friends, so you invite them over to hang out.
*They don’t respect your space when you ask them to take off their shoes.
*They cut you off when you start talking…
*They start moving things around in your space because they feel that it would be better… etc…
You look at them and you question if you made the best decision to let this person into your home. You thought you were alike…. You thought we could relate…. You know you had a moment, but this person is not who you thought they were. That person leaves and tells people, yea this is still my friend, but you are thinking in your mind, “I don’t know this person…. I’ve met them, but I don’t know them. “
This is how God is feeling with some of us. We accept Christ into our lives without fully understanding what it means to be in His life. A lot of times we say we are Christians because we are supposed to say that, without really understanding what it means. We are Christian because we did have a moment with Christ. We met Him. We know that He is real. But do we really know God and have we allowed God to know us? There are many levels to this walk with Christ. Most of the time we think it’s just about being a good Samaritan, but having a real relationship with Christ is a key part of it.
God wants you to know that you can have a real relationship with Him and that He desires that relationship with you.
Prayer:
Lord, I want to know you. I want a real relationship with you. I want to grow closer to you. If there is an area in my life where I have not allowed you, please forgive me, and help me to receive you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
