2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not being slow in doing what he promised—the way some people understand slowness. But God is being patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost. He wants everyone to change their ways and stop sinning. (ERV)
Scriptures reveal the character and mind of God. He is a holy God who hates sin and also a loving Father to all His creation.
The provision of Jesus Christ is the perfect antidote to sin and the old, wicked human nature. (Hebrews 9:28; 1 John 3:8) Repenting of your sins and believing in Christ Jesus purges you, gives you access to God’s favor and secures an escape from the coming judgement of God against sin.
Because God is long-suffering, He gives sinful men adequate time to repent. 2 Peter 3:15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation….
Peter describes God’s long-suffering as salvation: No one can be saved without God’s patience. God is love and He gives everyone adequate time to turn away from their sin and back to Him, so they can escape judgement. Scriptures also describe this attitude of God as being slow to anger.
Unfortunately, many take God’s patience to mean that He is fine with sin. Being slow to anger is an assurance that there is a day of judgement where sin will be judged and only true believers in Christ will escape God’s anger on that day.
Nahum 1:3 The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. (NLT)
Numbers 14:18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished (NIV)
A day is coming when God will judge sinners, do not wait till that day before you repent because no one knows the day. Humbly take in this message, repent and believe the gospel before it is too late.
PRAYER: Lord, please help me not to take your patience for granted anymore. I genuinely repent from my wicked ways and I accept the message of truth in your Word, the gospel of salvation – That Christ died for my sins and rose again on the third day for my justification. I declare today that Jesus is Lord. Lord Jesus, come into my life, make me new, make me holy and help me to live a life pleasing to God in Jesus name. Amen.
PLEASE MEDITATE: Acts 17:30-31 “God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.” (NLT)
