Psalms 31:14 NKJV – ‘But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, ‘You are my God.’’
What does it look like to trust in God? What does it feel like to trust in God?
The society we live in makes it hard for people to trust. We have this popular notion that people can’t be trusted unless they prove otherwise. It’s like a guilty until proven innocent rule and our hearts judge pretty harshly. When things are going well we sometimes have no problem trusting God, but when things get a little hectic we start acting funny. Sometimes we are moved by emotions and liken God’s love to man’s love. We believe He must prove His love to us by passing our self-made tests. Only then can we trust Him.
At one point, I stopped caring about the outcome of my situations. I thought that proved I had put all my trust in God, but He told me otherwise. He told me that giving up or lowering my expectations is very different from surrendering to His will. When we truly place our trust in God, our lives change. When we love God and believe His Word to be true and He tells us that all things work for the good of those who love Him, then there is no need to fear but simply trust. There is no need to worry. There is no need to strive. Trust and peace flow like a river when they come from a place of true relationship. Don’t settle for trust that is dependent on circumstances. Don’t follow society’s way of trusting. Trust Him for He is God.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for loving me past my faults. Thank You for Your faithfulness even when I am faithless. Help me to know that above all else, I can put my trust in You. Help me to believe Your Words are true and grow my trust in You every day. In Jesus name, Amen.
