GODLY LEADERSHIP

GODLY LEADERSHIP

GODLY LEADERSHIP 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

“He did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin by which he had made Israel sin.” – 1 Kings 15:34

“Inasmuch as I lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have made My people Israel sin, to provoke Me to anger with their sins, surely I will take away the posterity of Baasha and the posterity of his house, and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.”– 1 Kings 16:2-3

Baasha was a king in Israel whose sin caused the whole nation to sin.

God held him responsible for not only his own sin but the sin of Israel as well.

This shows us that political leaders have the power to influence their nation spiritually and even lead them away from God despite the fact that these leaders are not necessarily spiritual leaders.

For this reason, we ought to pray fervently for the leaders of our nations all over the world.

Psalm 97:2 shows that the foundational principles for godly leadership are righteousness and justice: “Clouds and darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

Therefore, when our leaders act outside of these principles, we should not only protest and make demands to government officials although that is important. It is even more important to fight these battles in the secret place by praying for our leaders to repent, receive Christ and lead with righteousness and justice. In doing so, we fight not just for better governance on earth but also the salvation of souls worldwide.

Moreover, in our own spheres of influence, we ought to remember that we have a responsibility to lead people to Christ and not to sin whether you have a position of leadership or not.

Therefore, we must depend on God to help us use our influence with righteousness and justice as our guide.

PRAYER: Thank God for our leaders and pray that He would save their souls and lead them to repentance. Pray for God to raise up a generation of leaders who will exemplify the character of Christ revealed through a genuine relationship with Him. Lastly, pray that God will help you to be a Christ-like leader within your own sphere(s) of influence.
