Romans 4:17: “God, who calls those things which do not exist as though they did” (NKJV)
Reflecting on Genesis chapter 1, something profound stood out: Vs. 1-2a: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. (KJV)
God created the earth and it was without form. It was empty, and darkness covered the face of the deep. This doesn’t sound like a beautiful picture.
Vs. 2b: And the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters (NIV) The Spirit of God hovering over the waters painted a complete picture. God had a plan and His Spirit was ready to get things in order.
Consider your personal life; if you say, “I don’t have money,”; though a statement of fact; it signifies that you desire to have money. God also describing the earth as without form, empty and covered with darkness also shows that He had a plan.
In the above example about money, you may lack the capability to create a source of income for yourself. But God is not so; He calls those things which do not exist as though they were; God declaring a lack of something shows that He is ready to make things perfect.
“And God said”……Genesis 1 vs 3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24, 26 Everything God said brought into reality that which was missing.
God’s word brought light, form and substance by the power of His Holy Spirit.
- Light to replace darkness (vs 3,14)
- Form to replace shapelessness (vs 6, 9)
- Substance to replace emptiness (vs 11, 20, 24, 26)
As a child of God, your life may look like it does not have form, light or substance, but be sure of something; you have the Spirit of Christ (Romans 8:9), and if the Spirit of Him who raised Christ from the dead is in you; He will surely give life to your situation (Romans 8:11).
PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you because you have a plan for my life. I am sure your Holy Spirit lives within me. Bring form, substance and light into my life today and forever in Jesus name. Amen.
