1 John 3:2 ASV – ‘Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is.’
Are you wondering what growth looks like? Let’s explore what growth looks like practically in the Christian faith.
You are growing when praising God is no longer mere music but remains your soundtrack even in difficult times of pain and loss. You are growing when your reaction to life’s unexpected pressure and stress is Christ-like. You are experiencing a growth spurt when you love God more than pleasure.
Growth milestones also happen when…
- you refuse to give up even though your faith is being tested
- you are willing to take divine instructions even when you don’t feel like it
- you find yourself discerning the voice of the Holy Spirit more and more
- you can truly love your critics and those who despitefully use you
- you are not offended because you think Christ did not come through for you
- you are able to willingly sacrifice something you treasure for the sake of pleasing Christ
- miracles, promotion, success, glamour, fame, position and title are not your motivation for service
- you are fervent in spirit and immovable in serving the Lord without expecting compensation or recognition
- and your faith is deep-rooted in Christ’ love.
Congratulations and welcome to adult life. The growth continues until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, become mature, and attain the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13).
PRAYER: Father, help me to leave the elementary things and move on to maturity in You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
