HAVE YOU MADE UP YOUR MIND?

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. – Daniel 1:8

Many are familiar with the story of Daniel and how he went on the famous 21 day fast where he only ate fruits and vegetables.   This fast showed us that when we trust God, we don’t lose but we gain in the end compared to that of the world. But have you ever thought about how Daniel got to this point of boldness, wisdom, and strength?

It all started with a choice of the heart. The Bible says, “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” This means that whatever is in your heart will manifest. If you have a vision of standing for Christ, even in tough situations, then your heart must be in that place of obedience and honor to God. So, the next question is how?

Honestly, it goes back to the first six words in our reference scripture: “But Daniel purposed in his heart.” In other words, he made up his mind.

I want to encourage you to propose in your heart to put God first. Propose in your heart to honor God. Propose in your heart to take a stand for Christ. Propose in your heart to seek the kingdom of God first.

Purpose in your heart to love others. Purpose in your heart to reflect Christ. Purpose in your heart to study the scriptures for wisdom. Purpose in your heart to obey Christ.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I want to be used for your kingdom like Daniel was. Help me to make up my mind about serving and obeying you. Help me to make up my mind to grow in you. Have your way in my life Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
