Romans 15:4: For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. (NKJV)
Romans 15:13: Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.(NKJV)
Are you in a waiting season concerning God’s promises for your life? Are you having to endure pain as you walk on your journey of faith?
Today’s devotional is a reminder about the faithfulness of God to people who at one time or the other had to endure a season of waiting, pain or struggle before they received the promise.
Kindly meditate on the following examples as you trust God in your situation.
Sarah was barren and had a child at age 90: Genesis 21:1-2,5: And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him…..And Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.”(NKJV)
Isaac faced contention about wells he dug until God made room for him: Genesis 26:21-22: Then they dug another well, and they quarreled over that one also. So he called its name Sitnah. And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, because he said, “For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”(NKJV)
Jesus promised His disciples joy and rejoicing after a time of sorrow: John 16:20-22: Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy. A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.(NKJV)
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for your word today. You are a faithful God who never fails. Please give me the grace to be full of hope and endurance as I await your promises. I know you will not fail me and I will rejoice at last in Jesus name. Amen.
