Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV – ‘Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.’
Have you ever slept for more than enough hours but still felt tired? No matter what you try, you still feel tired. No matter what you don’t do, you still feel drained. You think, “I had 8 hours of sleep and I still feel drained and tired. What is wrong with me?”
There is a temptation to just quit. There is a temptation to just give up. Doubts enter your mind about what you are doing or who you are. Life begins to be too much.
During a time like this we sometimes don’t realize that we are burdened. We convince ourselves that we need to be stronger. But that’s not true. Paul in the Bible said that he boasted in his weaknesses. This means when we have moments of weakness and life is getting to be too much, then we have reason to boast!!
You might be thinking but why. Well, because we have a Savior! God Himself, told us to come to Him when we are heavy laden. This means when we are tired and drained we can go to Him. Most nights when we don’t get rest, it means we have things on our heart or mind, things we are trying to work out on our own, but don’t have the resources to. But there is a friend named Jesus who is closer than a brother. Call on Him today and lay every burden at His feet. Listen to what He is trying to tell you and allow Him to take care of you.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I have so much on my plate. I can’t really sleep at night and I don’t know why I am not finding rest. So, Lord, I humbly come to You asking You for Your rest. I take on Your yoke Lord. I ask for wisdom and peace as I go forward in Your name. Lord, encourage me to continue in Your strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
