IMAGE OF MY FATHER

IMAGE OF MY FATHER

IMAGE OF MY FATHER 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness..” –  Genesis 1: 26

Who do you look like in your family?

Growing up, everyone knew who my mother and father was.  They knew who my siblings were.  They knew who my cousins were. The reason is because I came from the same DNA.  We all shared a similar image because we came from the same source.

Being in the image of God is very similar. When God created us He gave us a part of Him so that we and those around us could see where we came from.  He created us with family in mind.

Why is this important? – Many people are feeling disconnected.  Many people are feeling like they have no home or anyone to relate to.

I am reminded of the parable of the prodigal son and how he remembered where he came from and that he did have a father to go to.  Luke 15:17-19 (NIV) – “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father.

For everyone who feels lost and like they have no home to go to, remember you were created in the image of your Father. It means you do have a family and someone to turn to.

I encourage you to remember that God still loves you and wants you to come home.  The prodigal son didn’t think he looked anything like his father and said to himself that he no longer belongs with his family. But when the prodigal son was far off, the father recognized Him.

Luke 15:20 (NIV) – So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

No matter what you have been through, no matter how far you think you’ve gotten from God. No matter how you feel. No matter how low you are.

God is the Father who will still recognize you when you return home. So return home today. Embrace the Father who made you in His image.

PRAYER: Dear Father God, I feel so lost and alone. But I want to return home. Lord, I know I don’t deserve to return home, but your word says that I can. Please soften my heart and help me to receive your love.  Help me to know who I truly am so that I can return home. In Jesus name. Amen.
