“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’- Matthew 25:40 (NIV)
Biblical love is not partial.
In today’s devotional, we want to examine how we treat others.
The Lord Jesus Christ examined this matter in the gospel of Luke: “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. – Luke 6:32-33 (NKJV)
Because of how comfortable it is to love those who love us, we build the habit of ignoring people that are not providing us with anything or have previously offended us.
This is not the love that God has called us to as His children!
The Love of God is transformative, divine, and it is not transactional. This kind of love is not one born from willpower alone. It grows in us as we receive the love of God for ourselves and as we submit to His commands.
Everyday, you have the chance to interact with many people who you do not know and each interaction is an opportunity to love someone else genuinely. Please, take every chance to do good to others.
You were not saved from sin and death for yourself; to build a paradise for you and your friends alone. God freely loved you even though you did absolutely nothing for Him (Romans 5:8), and you are to love others so that they might know this perfect love in return.
PRAYER: Father, make my love authentic and full of your power. Help me to receive your love for me, to be changed by your love. Help me to obey your command to love all people, especially those in the household of faith. May I show others the mercy and grace that you show me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
