Luke 24:44-47 – He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
The Old Testament contains many prophecies about the Messiah. Jesus Christ fulfilled all of these prophecies by being born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14) and during His life on earth (e.g. Micah 5:2=Matthew 2:6; Zechariah 9:9=John 12:15).
This Messiah was also prophesied to bring salvation to Israel and the Gentiles through His suffering and death.
Isaiah 53:8 …For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished (NIV)
He was also prophesied to rise from the dead and bring salvation from sin and peace with God to as many that believe in Him.
Isaiah 53:11 After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. (NIV)
After He rose again from the dead, Jesus made it clear to His disciples that He was the promised Messiah and that salvation is now available to everyone that believes.
Because the Messiah has made salvation available, everyone in every nation can now receive forgiveness of sins when they repent and believe that He died to save them from their sins.
SO WHAT NEXT? Jesus has paid the price to save you from sin and from judgement. Have you repented of all your sins and put your faith in Him?
If you have a relationship with Christ already, you have a responsibility to go everywhere telling people about this good news of salvation. If you have not, this is the best opportunity to receive Him.
PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice on the cross for my sins. From today I repent of all my sins and put my trust in you. Please give me the grace to tell others about this good news. Amen
