Job 13:15a: Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him…(NKJV)
Job was a righteous man who feared God and hated evil in the bible.(Job 1:1)
He is known for passing through severe trials that Satan inflicted on him but were allowed by God for a purpose.(Job Chapter 1 and 2). He faced the sad loss of ten children, all his personal possessions and developed a skin disease.
In the midst of this, he was accused by his friends of being self-righteous and deserving of all the evil that befell him: a harsh assessment of his situation. In addition to this, his trials served as an opportunity to help him realize his personal fears, inadequacies and flawed knowledge of God’s true character and splendor. (Job 3:25; Job 42:1-6).
From his story in the book of Job, we also learn a lot about the character, majesty, power, love and unmatched wisdom of God.
While there are many more lessons to be learned from what he went through, today’s devotional focuses on declarations of faith that Job made during his trials. In the midst of everything, his difficult season served as an opportunity for him to declare His unending faith in God that is an inspiration for all believers today.
Kindly meditate on the following declarations of faith and hope in God that Job made in a very difficult season.
Job 13:15a: Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him…(NKJV)
Job 19:23-25 “Oh, that my words were written! Oh, that they were inscribed in a book! That they were engraved on a rock With an iron pen and lead, forever! For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! (NLT)
From Job’s declarations, we learn that God is worthy to be trusted even in the midst of very painful and grievous circumstances.
Let a revelation of His goodness give you succor no matter what may come against you. God is good all the time.
Also, like in Job 19, let a hope of eternity rule your heart and assure you that no matter what happens in this life, because you are a believer, one day, you will see Him and experience an eternity free of tears, hardship or trials forever.
Be encouraged, have faith in God and hope in His mercy no matter what comes against you.
PRAYER: Thank you Father for the example of Job. As I meditate on these scriptures, please give me a faith that declares your goodness no matter what. Fill me with a hope of eternity that cannot be quenched in Jesus name. Amen.
