JOSEPH: HAVING A SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE

JOSEPH: HAVING A SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE

JOSEPH: HAVING A SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

Romans 8:28: And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (NKJV)

Joseph was the son of Jacob, the grandson of Isaac and the great-grandchild of Abraham. His father Jacob (also called Israel) loved him more than his brothers and this made them envious of him, selling him into slavery.

Along the line, while a slave in Egypt, he was falsely accused of rape by his master’s wife and sent to prison. (Genesis 39:6-20)

Many years later according to God’s divine plan, he was lifted to become the second in command to Pharaoh the King of Egypt.

From Joseph’s journey, we see God’s faithfulness. While his journey was hard and difficult, there was a purpose in His trials, he was sent ahead to preserve a whole generation from starvation and death.

Genesis 50:19-20: Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.(NKJV)

Psalm 105:16-22: Moreover He called for a famine in the land; He destroyed all the provision of bread. He sent a man before them— Joseph—who was sold as a slave. They hurt his feet with fetters, He was laid in irons. Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord tested him. The king sent and released him, The ruler of the people let him go free. He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his possessions, To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his elders wisdom. (NKJV)

Because he trusted God through his pain and had a divine perspective, he was able to stay away from sin and kept his heart from bitterness against God and men while going through difficult times. He was also able to forgive his brothers for the wicked thing they did to him because he saw with the eyes of God.(Genesis 50:19-20)

Are you facing any particularly hurtful situation at this moment?

Ask God to give you the grace to go through your current difficult season. Ask Him to show you His perspective on your issues.

Keep your heart fixed on what the word of God is saying to you today; keep trusting in God and studying His word. Like Joseph, all things are working together for your good and there is a divine purpose even in your pain.

PRAYER: Dear Father, because I am called and chosen by you, I know that everything that happens to me is for a purpose. Your divine plan is at play and your counsel will come to pass in my life no matter what. Please give me a spiritual perspective to happenings in my life and around me. Help me to stop thinking and acting carnally but help me to see with the eyes of the Spirit. In Jesus name. Amen.
