Mark 5:15: A crowd soon gathered around Jesus, and they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons. He was sitting there fully clothed and perfectly sane, and they were all afraid.(NLT)
Today’s devotional draws critical lessons from the story of the demon possessed man in the country of the Gadarenes (Mark 5:1-20).
He was a man possessed by a Legion of demons who had an encounter with Christ that changed his life forever. At the end of his encounter with Christ, he became an evangelist who went around preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.(Matthew 5:18-20)
If you still live a life of sin today, or if you are under any form of demonic affliction, the story of the possessed man of Gadarenes presents some key points that can help you to be delivered.
- He recognized Jesus as the Son of God and ran to Him, not away from Him.(Mark 5:6)
- He was subsequently saved and delivered from a Legion of demons that were tormenting him. After his encounter with Christ, he had his mind restored (he was in his right mind) and was properly clothed.(Mark 5:15)
- Next thing he did after his deliverance was sit at the feet of Jesus. He had a desire to stay with Jesus and learn from him.(Mark 5:15; Luke 10:39)
- Jesus commissioned him as an evangelist and he went around telling what Jesus had done for him.(Mark 5:18-20)
Run to Jesus today, no matter how sinful your life is right now or how much you feel oppressed mentally or spiritually. Jesus alone is the solution to your needs and His power is able to set you free from the influence of Satan and his demons.
Recognize Him today as your Lord and personal Savior and come to Him. Confess your sins and accept Him as your Lord and personal Savior. Only then can you be in your right mind. He will deliver you from anything you are struggling with like He did for the man of Gadarenes.
Witness the life of God first hand as you enjoy daily fellowship with Him. Then go around telling what He has done for you.
PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for your revelation today. You are the Son of God, my Savior. I approach your throne of grace boldly today. Deliver me from sin and from all oppression and restore me to a right mind spiritually. Help me to know you, to experience you and to encounter your power in my life daily in Jesus name. Amen.
