LET US WALK PROPERLY

LET US WALK PROPERLY

LET US WALK PROPERLY 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

‘And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.’ – Romans 13:11-14 NKJV

Our reference scripture for today makes it clear that we are to do away with attitudes that are not of Christ. We should not walk:

  • in revelry and drunkenness

  • in lewdness and lust

  • in strife and envy

Are there any areas of your life in which you are envious, consumed with lewd thoughts, or filled with strife? Lay them before the Lord. God receives a broken and penitent heart.

You also have to: Put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts as we read in today’s scripture.

There is also an urgency – because the time is coming, “for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” The return of Christ is nearer than when we first believed. The day of His return draws nearer and nearer and we are to be prepared.

We need to check our hearts to make sure that we are walking properly according to God’s word. Everyday we must make the choice of clothing ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ and giving no room for the flesh.

PRAYER: ‘Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.’ (Psalms 139:23-24 NKJV) In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
