MAKING TOUGH DECISIONS

MAKING TOUGH DECISIONS

MAKING TOUGH DECISIONS 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

James 1:5-6 NIV – ‘If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.’

Every day, we have to make decisions. For a college student, you could be deciding what major to pursue. For others, you could be deciding where to work after graduation, what state to live in, which people to hang around or who to marry.

Solomon faced a difficult decision when he had to make a judgement between two women who both claimed to be the true mother of the same newborn child (I Kings 3:16-28). The apostles faced a similar moment when they were warned not to preach in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:18).

You may be facing a tough financial, relationship or even community-related decision currently. The Lord that provided wisdom to Solomon and the apostles when caught in their respective dilemmas will help you as you make the tough decisions in your life.

Engage with these stories and any other examples you can find in the Bible. Learn from them, ask God in faith for wisdom and allow the Him to lead and direct you as you go through life.

PRAYER: Lord, I come to you today asking for daily wisdom, and for special wisdom in moments that call for tough decision making. I know that wisdom is available to me as long as I ask in faith without doubting (James 1:5-6). Rid me of every doubt so that nothing prevents me from receiving your wisdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

[Let’s not forget: the most important decision is the personal one to follow Christ. It is a decision we are called to make everyday].
