You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. – Isaiah 26:3
Sometimes, it is hard to fix your gaze on God because of the cares of this life and things that keep you busy. You think that spending time with God will rob you of time you could use to do something else. This reasoning makes sense to the natural mind but is there a better way?
The enemy often uses what we see, the treasures of this life, to challenge the goodness of God. Not only does he try to get us to forget God, he can be even more subtle, convincing us to seek God a little but not with our whole heart. This divided attention kills our spirit because we become frantic, seeking false peace in one idol or the next, constantly running dry.
Scriptures reveal the opposite: that peace is a direct result of focus on God, and everything that He is and this peace surpasses human understanding and ways of thinking. Isaiah 26:3 promises us that perfect peace is given to those who fix their minds on God and not on the cares of this life.
Let this devotional serve as a reminder to you that Peace and Trust go together. When we trust God completely, a perfect peace is given to us in Him.
