Exodus 16:2: Then the whole community of Israelites began complaining again. They complained to Moses and Aaron in the desert. (ERV)
The Israelites were chosen by Yahweh, our Lord. They became a nation set apart by God for His good pleasure but after several good years in the land of Egypt, a new Pharaoh reigned over the land. They became enslaved and severely oppressed by this new ruler yet multiplied in numbers. Our Good God heard their cries and used a man named Moses to lead them into freedom. God, with His righteous right hand, made a spectacle of their oppressors.
Despite this new found freedom, God’s people grumbled and complained at every sight of hardship. Rather than remembering God and His ability and willingness to provide for them, they wished to return to slavery.
You, young man or young woman, do you wish to forget God’s goodness and reminisce on your past, forgetting the pain and oppression it once caused you? Does your current Goliath make you question God’s character? He is the SAME yesterday, today, and forever. Instead of filling God’s presence with your complaints, fill His courts with praise. Let the joy of the Lord be your strength. Psalm 103:2 – “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits”
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for choosing me to be your own and for your goodness to me. Keep me full of praise and gratitude to you as I walk with you day-by-day on this pilgrimage. Help me not to grumble, murmur or complain no matter what comes my way in Jesus name. Amen.
