Psalm 62:1-2 – Only in God do I find rest; my salvation comes from him. Only God is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold! I won’t be shaken anymore. (CEB)
There are moments when we run into troubling times in our lives.
It can be in our jobs, classes, finances, families, or any area of our lives.
Although we can take this kind of non-stop pressure for a while, eventually, it can become too much.
If you feel depleted and fatigued, is it possible that you need to get some rest in the Lord?
Could it be that the Lord is urging you to take a breather from the constant pace you are maintaining so you can shake off the problems and relax a little bit?
Don’t you agree that when you are under constant pressure, it affects your ability to think right and see things clearly?
If you need a scripture to back you up when you need to get alone with the Lord to pray, worship, or simply allow yourself some time for recreation in His presence, read Genesis 2:2-3.
Genesis 2:2-3 (NKJV) – And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
Take some time to rest and don’t feel guilty about it!
We live in a world spinning faster than we can keep up, so we must learn to keep our lives in balance. Even God rested.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I ask for Your wisdom to know how to balance my life and work with times of relaxation and recreation. Teach me how to rest as you instructed. Now I know You want me to take a break from this constant pace. Thank You for giving me understanding. Help me to rest yet keep me from becoming lazy. I ask for Your Holy Spirit to help me make the changes required in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
