Colossians 3:1-4: 1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (NKJV)
Oftentimes, we allow our circumstances and our ambitions for this earthly life to distract us from the opportunity we have to draw nearer to God.
This portion of scripture is a reminder and even more an admonition to live in accordance with the new identity you have in Christ. Being raised with Christ comes with access to all that He is and all that He has.
Verse 2 lets us know that we have a choice in the matter. We do not have to be overcome with pressures due to the cares of this life. We are in this world, but no longer of this world (John 17:16).
When our thoughts are weighing heavy on us, keeping our stance in Christ in mind is the solution. With eternity in view, we find grace to endure the challenging moments we face in life. We are able to see beyond what is seen.
The Lord has crowns that awaits all those who are loving and longing for His appearing (2 Tim 4:8). Let us keep Christ as our peace of mind and keep ourselves hidden in Him so that where He is we are also (John 14:3).
PRAYER: Father, help me never to forget the access I now have to you through Christ. Life sometimes distracts me from your goodness, your constant availability, and your limitless supply. Every time I seek you I discover that in you I have all that I need. Be the meditation of my heart always and let my desire always be for close fellowship with You. In Jesus Name, Amen.
