SPIRITUAL GROWTH

SPIRITUAL GROWTH

SPIRITUAL GROWTH 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

Mark 4:26-29: He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.” (NIV)

You may be reading this devotional today and you may have so many doubts and challenges to your growth despite your best efforts.

In Mark 4:26-29, God likens the kingdom of God to a farmer sowing and planting. The farmer plants but he has no idea how the seed grows.

In the same way, we do not know how God is shaping us from the inside out. We are born again by the incorruptible seed of God’s word and just like it takes a while for a seed to grow, it takes a while for us to be transformed by God’s words in a way that we can perceive.

Let go of your expectations and pick up His. Abide in Him and allow Him to work on you as He supplies you with His life giving Spirit. Give Him time to work on you in the same way you give a seed time to grow.

While you wait, also ensure to rid your life of weeds and take in the sincere milk of God’s word to enable your growth. 1 Peter 2:1-2: So get rid of every kind of evil, every kind of deception, hypocrisy, jealousy, and every kind of slander. Desire God’s pure word as newborn babies desire milk. Then you will grow in your salvation. (GW)

Your work is to believe, obey and abide in Him. He will take care of everything else.

PRAYER: Dear Father, I thank you for your truth. I am born again by your incorruptible word and you desire that I grow. Help me to be full of patience as I abide in you and stay away from evil. Do your work in my life and keep me encouraged as I grow. Thank you for your faithfulness, Lord. I know by faith that I will be all you want me to be in Jesus name. Amen.
