John 6: 66- 69: From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (NKJV)
Has God ever told you something and you did not understand it?
As students, if we don’t understand something, our first instincts should be to study. When our studying hits a roadblock we reach out to our professor to have better understanding. It is similar with God. The Bible tells us to study to show ourselves approved (2nd Timothy 2:15).
The disciples in this story made the decision to stay with Jesus because even though they didn’t quite understand what Jesus was saying, they knew that Jesus was still the way. They understood that spending more time with Jesus would give them the clarity and the answers that they needed. Most importantly they understood that the best place to be was with Jesus Himself.
There were many people that day who stopped following Jesus because they did not understand what He was saying to them. But those who trusted Jesus remained.
It is time to trust Jesus with everything.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help my heart to stay grounded in you even when I do not understand. Give me the grace to be full of faith in all seasons. Help me Lord to trust in you with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding in Jesus name. Amen.
