Matthew 13:41-43: The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!
When mixing materials together during a construction project, the builder pays close attention to the compatibility of materials. Regardless of the builder’s personal preference, there are certain materials that will never mix properly. For example, gold cannot mix with paper.
Materials that mix properly usually have crucial things in common, and these things are not shared with other incompatible materials.
The scripture above points to a powerful truth: God will purge His kingdom of everyone who causes sin and does evil. This is because the Kingdom of God is founded on righteousness and justice. You see, just like silver cannot mix with wood, the Holiness of God is incompatible with sin. God, who is Holy, has called us from darkness to light that we might be conformed to His image and be like Him. He clearly reveals through His word that we are to be holy as He is holy.
In our reference scripture, Jesus is speaking about the end of time when He will come with His angels. At this time, He will expel everything that causes sin and those who do evil out of His Kingdom .
This promise was not conceived during the New Covenant. During the Old Covenant, the Lord made similar promises against doers of iniquity.
Exodus 17:14: Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.”
Zechariah 14:20-21: In that day “HOLINESS TO THE LORD” shall be engraved on the bells of the horses. The pots in the Lord’s house shall be like the bowls before the altar. Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and Judah shall be holiness to the Lord of hosts. Everyone who sacrifices shall come and take them and cook in them. In that day there shall no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts.
Indeed, the Lord hates sin and iniquity, and being faithful to His Word, we can be assured that He has set a day where indeed, He will purge His kingdom of every evil doer.
You see, Jesus intends to present all of God’s people – the church – unto the Father as a spotless bride, one without imperfections. And so, every member of his body, the church, must reflect his Holiness.
What is the state of your life today? Do you claim to live in God’s kingdom and your life does not reflect God’s character of holiness? Choose to repent today and turn the Lord in all sincerity of heart. There is grace in the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of calvary to help you. Remember, the Lord knows those who are His and everyone who names the Name of Christ must depart from iniquity.
PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, your word is true. You will purge your church of everything that causes sin and does evil. Please purge me, cleanse me and make me fear you. Make me a righteous person who will lead a holy life and shine as light in your Kingdom in Jesus name. Amen.
