Acts 1:11: “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” (NIV)
Jesus promised that He will return one day to take His saints home.(John 14:1-3) Given the certainty of the Lord’s return, we are to prepare for that day by:
Ensuring that we believe the gospel of salvation: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, (NKJV)
Staying pure and away from sin: 2 Peter 3:14 – So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. (NIV)
Making amends and keeping our hearts free of offense and bitterness against God or man: Acts 24:15-16: I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust. This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.(NKJV)
Continuing in fellowship with the brethren: Hebrews 10:25: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. (NKJV)
Doing the Lord’s work till He comes: Luke 19:13: And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. (NKJV)
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the hope of Your coming. Your word says that whoever has this hope in them keeps themselves pure. Please give me the grace to continue in fellowship with the saints, do your work and remain in constant expectation of your return in Jesus name. Amen.
