Romans 8:15-16 : For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (NKJV)
Today’s devotional focuses on the New Covenant which we enjoy as believers. Unlike during the Old Covenant, children of God in Christ Jesus have the indwelling Holy Spirit that makes all the difference.
The Holy Spirit helps us to know God’s laws, understand God’s ways and have an intimate relationship with our heavenly Father. With the Spirit in us, we are able to know the mind of God, differentiate truth from error, and live holy and righteous lives that are pleasing to God the Father.
Kindly meditate on the following scripture from the book of Ezekiel that emphasizes the truth of the New Covenant we have as believers in Christ.
Ezekiel 36: 25-27 : Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. (NKJV)
PRAYER: Thank you Lord Jesus, my Savior and Redeemer for a new covenant based on better promises. Thank you for your death, burial and resurrection that made it possible for me to have faith in you and to receive the gift of your Holy Spirit. From today Lord, teach me more and more about the benefits of having your Holy Spirit within me. I desire to draw closer to you, live a life full of your anointing and please you in every way. In Jesus name. Amen.
