Isaiah 50:4: ‘The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.’ (NIV)
In Isaiah 50:4, the prophet describes how his God given, well instructed tongue helps him to say words that sustain the weary.
In addition to spiritual training, God does this equipping through formal and informal education and we have to submit to these trainings.
Isaiah submitted to instruction, which equipped him to better help people. Likewise, we educate ourselves through various ways at the direction of God. We ought to persevere in humility and devotion whether in the classroom or learning from a more mature believer through observance, so that we will one day be able to expertly help people in need.
It is important to remember that education equips you to minister to people in need. The more you persevere in learning and submit to knowledge and hard work, the larger your capacity to serve others.
— Acts 20:35: In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ (NIV)
— Mathew 5:16: In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (NIV)
PRAYER: Father, thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn in all areas of my life. Help me to see your hand in this, so that I would persevere to be all that you want me to be. I pray for passion, confidence, and diligence, so that I can be a light to the world with my gifts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
