“Faith means being sure of the things we hope for. And faith means knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.” Hebrews 11:1 (ICB)

The idea that we can have faith and rely on God, shows that we must first be able to trust Him.

Most of us either had trust issues in the past or have trust issues currently and we think that this stronghold does not flow into our relationship with God.

Some of us have been hurt and been through painful situations that have scared us mentally and emotionally and has affected how we think and communicate.

We don’t confide in those around us because of the past hurts we have experienced and we mimic this in our relationship with our Father in heaven. We don’t tell Him the things that concern us because we feel as though He is just listening for the sake of it, especially if we do not see the outcomes we want.

Faith means we trust in God and who He says He is without relying on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Having trust issues is something we can’t allow to dictate how we relate to God.

How do we hope for things without first trusting? How do we know something is real if we do not see it without first trusting? You don’t. We must trust God and we must not allow the world to change how we see Him; as our Sovereign and one true God.

PRAYER: My King, I thank You for how you have been patient with me. Lord, show me the ways that my relationship with You is being affected by the things of this world and how I have let my past hurt and pain dictate my present and future with you. Please forgive me. I pray that my trust in You grows everyday. In Jesus’ powerful name I pray. Amen.
