“…Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?…” John 6:5

Jesus asks a question to Phillip knowing the answer. He asked him, where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?

Imagine you are following your leader around and he turns to you with a question like this. Do you panic? Do make up a solution to sound good? What do you do?

Jesus wanted to know where his faith lied. Phillip answered with what he knew was available, but he also answered with doubt, just as most of us would have. Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” John 6:7 (NIV)

A little boy then comes into the picture; Andrew presents a little boy who was willing to give Jesus all his food despite how insignificant what he had was to the current situation.

Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” John 6:8-9 (NIV)

This boy gave all he had. Jesus then took what he had, blessed it and fed the multitude with it.

Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” John 6:11-12 (NIV)

What is God asking of you? When you hear God calling for what you have, how are you going to answer?

God is saying feed my people. He is saying serve them. It is up to you to say here Lord, take my all. You cannot fulfill His calling on your life if you do not give Him your all.

Pray over all that you have, and ask God how He can use you and the things you have. It is time to serve God with all that you have.

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for blessing me. I cannot say I have much, but what I have is yours. I cannot say I understand all that you will do, but I trust you. Lord, all that I have is yours, please take it and do what you will with it. In Jesus name, Amen.
