WHAT IS YOUR SOURCE OF MOTIVATION?

Hebrew 11: 27 AMPC – ‘Motivated by faith he [Moses] left Egypt behind him, being unawed and undismayed by the wrath of the king; for he never flinched but held staunchly to his purpose and endured steadfastly as one who gazed on Him Who is invisible.’

Have you ever had a day where you acted happy and pretended to get along with the people around you, but in reality you’re just barely hanging in there. You might even go as far as to say ‘Praise God”, “It is well”,  or “I am good’ , but again you’re just barely making it through the day. Then your best friend/roommate/ loved one asks “Are you okay”? You know what that means right?  Even though you were pretending, they saw past your facade and straight through to the unhappiness you’re feeling.

As I reminisce over the adventurous life of Moses, Joshua, and all the people who faced uncertain times during their days, but still put their faith in God, I realize something. They were not just intentional about their faith. They had a revelation of Jehovah Almighty who expressed His Being to them in numerous ways through-out their life.

Moses was a young boy whose first three months of life were preserved by the faith of his parents. He escaped the wicked legislation that was meant to destroy his life because of God. Moses’ miraculous trip to Pharaoh’s palace had a purpose larger than the cause that took him there.

Despite his privileges in Pharaoh’s palace, he was still mindful of the plight of his Hebrew relatives. He became enraged as he witnessed prejudice by the taskmasters of his time. Then, he had the burning bush encounter with God, his Creator, that moved him from barely coping with life to living and pursuing a worthier purpose with its attendant but rewarding challenges.

Moses was motivated by his faith in Jehovah I AM, not his personality, family, or national heritage. By faith, Moses left Egypt behind him, being “unawed and undismayed by the wrath of the king; for he never flinched but held staunchly to his purpose and endured steadfastly as one who gazed on Him Who is invisible (Hebrews 11:24-27).”

PRAYER: Lord may I continue to find you as my motivational Source and Resource. May my faith in you never fail me. May I grow in faith like Moses, and the three Hebrew Children who trusted you when their faith was tested. This I pray in Christ Jesus’ name. Amen.
