WILL YOU ARISE? 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

Judges 5:6-7: In the days of Shamgar son of Ananth, in the days of Jael, the main roads were deserted because travelers kept to the side roads. Villages were deserted, they were deserted in Israel, until I, Deborah, arose, a mother in Israel. (CSB)

Israel as a nation went through periods of suffering and calamity because of their disobedience to God in the book of Judges. Every time they cried out to God for mercy in true repentance, He raised an anointed person called a judge to rescue them from their enemies.

At a certain time, oppression from enemies called Canaanites was so bad that roads and villages were deserted. God’s chosen people were running away from their God given possession. Mighty men in Israel were so afraid of the Canaanites that they remained in hiding.

A mighty woman of God, a judge, called Deborah arose in these circumstances. She could not bear the reproach and ridicule her people were suffering and had to take action.

As a prophet and powerful woman of God, she identified a man called Barak and inspired him to lead Israel to war. Barak was too afraid to go to war, but Deborah inspired him, and Israel secured victory over their enemies. Her boldness also inspired another woman called Jael to play a leading part in the victory. (Judges 4:6-16; Judges 4:17-24)

Israel was saved and received peace because of Deborah. Once more, people could live, prosper and travel safely in Israel, all because she arose.

What is the situation of your family? your church? your education? your career? your community?.

Do you like the way things are, don’t you feel things can get better to the glory of God?

Arise and take charge of the situation whatever it may be. Stop resigning to fate, wake up and ask God to give you the boldness to inspire change so that His glory can be seen all around you.

Start that bible study in your school, begin that prayer group, start interceding for your family, start praying for your nation, apply for that scholarship……

Your boldness and arising will inspire change and lead other people into their potential and ultimately God will take all the glory.

So what next? Therefore, I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2nd Timothy 1:6-7 (NKJV)

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for opening my eyes to the amazing potential you have placed in me. With you, I can accomplish anything I set my heart on. Help me to arise and change my situation and community for good in Jesus name. Amen.
