YES, YOU CAN ACTUALLY MOVE A MOUNTAIN

YES, YOU CAN ACTUALLY MOVE A MOUNTAIN

YES, YOU CAN ACTUALLY MOVE A MOUNTAIN 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

Mark 11:20-24 NIV – ‘In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus,“Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!” “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.’

Sometimes I forget how powerful faith is. Sometimes I settle for an okay faith and I satisfy myself with unbelief as long as it’s a small amount. I’m realizing that mentality causes me to miss out on so many things in life. A lot of people know the phrase “faith can move mountains,”  but let’s add context to it with our reference scripture for today.

Jesus told his disciples that doubtless faith can make a mountain throw itself into the sea. Just a metaphor? That’s what I thought at first; however, Jesus gave this teaching as an explanation for the fig tree that he withered in Mark 11:12-14. Jesus cursed the fig tree to never produce fruit again. Later on, the disciples passed by the tree again, and it had dried up. When Jesus told the disciples that faith can move mountains, he was explaining to them why the fig tree withered.

Jesus’ faith did it! It’s not a phrase! Faith can move mountains in the same way faith can wither a fig tree. It makes me wonder what other seemingly impossible things faith can do.

What reason would you have for throwing a mountain into the sea? Alright, so it’s not on the top of your to do list. But what about that super competitive internship or job? Maybe no one in your family has ever had a marriage that lasts, but deep down you still desire a prince charming or Proverbs 31 woman.

Maybe you want to pass an impossible test or class. In Matthew 17:20, God tells us that faith makes all things possible. Don’t limit what God can do and refuse to settle for anything less than the best. Faith makes all things possible, even moving mountains. So, what’s the seemingly impossible thing in your life?

Faith that moves mountains is a powerful level of faith. It can’t come from your willpower. Jesus must inspire that faith because he is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Ask Jesus to help you believe for the impossible in your life.

PRAYER: God, thank you for the authority that you have given us on this earth. You have made our faith in You so powerful that it can move mountains. I’m so sorry that I’ve settled into unbelief. I’m so sorry that I’ve limited you in my life. There are so many desires and situations that I did not meet with my faith. Help me to do better. Help my unbelief. I want to see the faith that can move mountains on the inside of me. I know this will take time, but I’m still excited for how my life will change as you increase my faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
