YOUR HELP COMES FROM THE LORD

YOUR HELP COMES FROM THE LORD

YOUR HELP COMES FROM THE LORD 150 150 Bethel Campus Fellowship

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:1-2

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,  in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

When life is going good and you are accomplishing all your goals, it is easy to fall into the trap of taking credit for everything the Lord has done for you – especially in a world that seems so averse to any positive mention of the name of Jesus.

We may not even realize we are doing it. It could be as simple as someone asking us how we accomplished a goal and we respond with how hard we worked without ever mentioning the God who strengthened us when we were too tired or gave us understanding when nothing seemed to make sense.

As the Lord continues to elevate us in our lives, we must take advantage of every opportunity to glorify God for who He is and what He’s done in our lives. We must give Him the credit rather than boast in ourselves; after all, even our good qualities are gifts from Him.

The word of God makes it clear that it is God’s will for us to give thanks in everything. Moreover, we see in Psalm 121:1-2 that the Psalmist declares that they will lift their eyes to the hills where their help comes from. That is the attitude we should always have.

God is our divine Helper. Nothing we ever accomplish is in our own power but rather, it is by His grace and to His glory. When we acknowledge God and constantly give Him the credit that He is due, we are also bearing witness to others of how great our God is that they may become interested in getting to know Him.

We see this in Mark 5:18-20 when Jesus advised a man who He delivered from demon possession to go back to his hometown and tell his friends what Jesus had done for him so that they may see the power of Jesus Christ. If that man had not given Jesus the credit for his deliverance, he would have robbed his friends of that opportunity to learn about their Savior.

PRAYER: God, Thank you so much for all that you have done for me! I acknowledge You as my Divine Helper and I pray that You will take all the glory and recognition for my accomplishments Lord. Help me to constantly give credit to You and bear witness to others of your great faithfulness toward me, in Jesus Name, Amen!
